THE PRODUCT SUBMISSION PROCESS EXPLAINED

This document will tell you about the product submission process.

  1. NON-DISCLOSURE AGREEMENTS:
The inventor normally sends these to Sportime. However, in an effort to decrease time to market, we have had our lawyers draw up a non-disclosure agreement. This will be sent to you upon request, if you think you need one. If you have documented your idea or applied for a patent you may not need a non-disclosure agreement. The benefits of having our own contract is that we do not have to send every non-disclosure agreement we receive to our lawyers to make sure we understand our rights.

  2. REVIEWS AND ROYALTY DETERMINATION:
When you have submitted your product with the prototype and necessary documentation (see Product Submission Checklist), the Product Development Group at Sportime will review it. At this time we decide if we will proceed to bring the product to market and subsequently, the royalty percentage. The royalty you will receive is a percentage of the sale price that we sell your product for. This is dependent on how much information was supplied by you, as opposed to that which we have to provide. For example, a concept submitted without a prototype will get less royalty than one submitted with a prototype.

  3. RARF (ROYALTY AGREEMENT REQUEST FORM):
When Sportime decides to proceed with bringing your product to market, we will send you a RARF (electronically, in the event that such is not feasible, a hard copy shall be mailed). This is a form to gather updated information from you. When completed and returned, we will fill in the information onto a royalty contract and send that to you to sign. This will serve as confirmation that you will be receiving royalty when the product is sold. You are asked to sign the Royalty Contract and return it to us at your earliest convenience.

  4. PRODUCT UPDATES:
Your product is now on it's way to becoming an integral part of one or more of Sportime's catalogs! Please feel free to contact the product development team to ask about its status. While we push each product as quickly as possible, we usually have about 80 products in development at any given time.

  5. TIMELINES:
Sportime is committed to bringing your product to market as soon as possible. However, with most of our manufacturing overseas, this can take a while. More often than not, we modify your product idea to add features or for safety concerns. We ask you to be patient. Historically, products have made their way into a catalog in anywhere between 6-18 months depending on product complexity and catalog cycles. We however do try to respond to your product submission in 90 days telling you if the product has been undertaken or otherwise.

If you have any questions or would like to receive an update on the status of your submission, please call Pratyush Lal (Prat) at 770-510-7171, or e-Mail him at plal@sportime.com
